How Do We Get Started?
First, get in touch! We start each project with a conversation. Reaching out and telling us about your Short Film gives us a chance to get to know you, your project’s needs, and your expectations. We will follow up with a video or phone call to get even more specific. You may know exactly what you are looking for, or may be seeking recommendations and advice. Either way, we start by coming up with a clear plan specifically for your short film.
What Do We Need?
Once your short film is in picture lock, we will reach out to your Editor. We will discuss what picture and audio assets we need, their format, and how best you can deliver them to us. We work in Pro Tools, and most editors are familiar with transfer formats. If not, we have easy to follow documentation that will walk you through the process! Once all of your media is in our hands, we get busy editing and mixing.
How Long Does It Take?
Each short film’s needs are different and turnaround times vary. This is why it’s important that we start each project with a thorough conversation. In that initial discussion, we will talk about the scope of work along with any necessary deadlines. Feedback and collaboration is vital to audio post-production; it is an iterative process, with drafts and notes going back and forth between our teams. In short, it could take a couple of days or several weeks – again, every short film’s needs are different. Our promise is that we will be transparent and communicative every step of the way, on a timeline that works for you.
What Do I Get? Deliverables!
Your final deliverables vary based on how you are going to use your short film. We take everything into consideration – from loudness standards to mix format. You may want to have a stereo mix to easily upload to YouTube, as well as a surround sound mix for that film festival you have your eye on. We offer Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound deliverables and combinations. We also offer delivery of dialogue only and/or music & effects mixes which you may find useful for creating movie trailers, or for localization. With customizable options available, we have all your needs covered.
